This is an opportunity to purchase a valuable piece of American history, that will ONLY appreciate as time goes on. The Counter Invader is a highly modified version of the Douglas B-26, a multi-enginge WWII fighter/bomber. Modifications included a reinforced fuselage and tail, strengthened wing spars, improved engines, wing-tip tanks and a host of other refinements. Of the 40 aircraft converted by the Onmark Engineering Co. of Van Nuys, Ca. B-26K S/N-64-17679 N4988N is the last K-Model B-26 to roll out of Onmark's hangar in 1964. First representing America with the 605th Air Commando Squadron at Howard AFB in the Panama Canal Zone. Government decision led to the deployment of B-26K's to Southeast Asia in an attempt to stem the flow of war material down the Ho Chi Minh Trail from North Vietnam via Laos. Following their withdrawal from service (late '68), most B-26K's were immediately transferred to storage with the MASDC at Davis-Monthan. Of the 40 B-26K's produced, several were shot down, MIA, or written off by the military. Remaining surplus B-26K's have found their way into museums in the United States and South Korea and unfortunately will never take flight again. The last and only flying example of the B-26K Model still Licensed (Experimental/Exhibition), is the aircraft YOU are reading about. Please email with questions regarding this aircraft.
