In this case I think that the aircraft is quite close to the ditching position since the wings ruptured allowing the fuel tanks to come to the surface. This meant that the Hally sank quite quickly instead of floating for several minutes.
I dropped the Warwick info to Ian in May of last year:
"ASR from Tiree at 11:22 hrs. Search from Tiree for ditched Halifax F/518. Over dinghy with 9 occupants 4 miles Tiree. Dropped smoke floats. 11:41 hrs dropped dinghy. Homed trawler which picked up survivors. 12:30 hrs directed trawler to Scarnish by visual signals. Landed 13:41 hrs"
