Wasn't there also a fly-over of Corsairs during his depicted return to the Phillipines? If I recall it was a beach landing with Corsairs overflying in pairs. Unless I'm mistaken, the film was made around the same time as 'Blacksheep Squadron' so they might have made use of the available planes. I'd guess that Mr. Hinton probably knows the facts on this.
