There's an article on the Forbes site at:
http://www.forbes.com/global/2002/1209/058.html
that was written by the wife of a fellow IPMS member... they were part of a Fighter Factory tour I helped organize back during the Nationals last summer, and this article came as a result of that visit. Anyway, this particular passage leapt out at me...
"In Russia a collector has to pay $10,000 to $15,000 just for export permits. And three Russian historians must certify that the plane has no historic value. The only reason Yagen got to export a Russian-made Lavochkin V from Ukraine was that, after communism's collapse, the region ceased to be a part of Russia. "I think it's the only Lavochkin V that survived the war," he says. The Germans, by contrast, are quick to part with aircraft that if slathered with swastikas, cannot be displayed anyway: "It's an embarrassment to them."
Now, this is news to me- I know Jerry has a lot of really cool stuff here and abroad, but had not heard of a Lavochkin in his stable.
