Tulio -
The S.55 "jahu" reached Brazil three years before Balbo. It started the flight with an Italian crew (including my wife's grandfather) but only went as far as Casablanca. It was then purchased by a Brazilian, repaired and flown across with a number of difficulties.
My understanding is that the original will be static only, with the repro flying. But there seems to be a considerable lack of funding, and the repro would be considerably re-engineered and modified. In any case, there seems to be a conspicuous lack of detailed info on this exciting program - just a photo of the restored Isotta Fraschini engine added recently to Mikael's great website and a Howard Levy photo in Flypast, showinf little progress.
Obviously I would love to contradicted.
