There simply were not any of them left to scrap en masse...
The straight P-40 was delivered in 199 units 39-156 to 220, 39-222 - 289 and 292-357. Twenty went to Russia. 44 were created plus 39-221 when model A2 wings were put on 44 of the P-40 aircraft creating the P-40G. There were 131 P-40B's, 193 P-40C and 22 P-40D's. These are the classic look P-40s...almost 550 aircraft. All were delivered prior to Pearl Harbor, and many little blocs were exported elsewhere. I believe that if there was one extant post 1943 it was an oddity. I am sure all would have been scrapped or broken up by 1944. This is the fate of most of the B-17C and D's, P-43's P-36's ect...
