A great moment for the team after some 10 years of work , although the response seems muted even on the stormbirds list that I am part of . Part due to the fact there was a big response when it got off the ground during the test taxi and part due to the timing.. a few days before Xmas when everybody is rushing around like headless chooks ;-0
A huge efort was made by many people all over the world to make this happen .. I even got the chance to crawl around the Australian 262 to get detail photos to add to the mountain of documetation it took to get it off the ground.
There is no doubt this is a replica , and rightly so... I sure as hell hope no one tries to fly one of the few originals left . These aircraft will be the only chance the world has to see what the first combat jet to see action looked , smelt and sounded like .... an aircraft that was a turning point in the history of air combat .... long may it and her sisters fly .
