Ah, interesting point you have there. May be you can succeed with formulating an universally accepted definition of "warbird" that, say at least 85% of the people involved will agree upon (operators, rebuilders, enthusiasts, museums etc etc). Then we can start to discuss pure "warbirds". I have failed with coming up with a definition that works really good, for a broad group of people and I know a lot of others who hjave tried and failed.

But until that universal definition is constructed and accepted I think we'll have to accept that we will discuss things on WIX that are what some people define as Warbird, and some people don't define as warbirds - all depending on the definition people use.

In my view, the new built Me 262's should be discussed on this forum since a great deal of the people hanging around here, have an interest in them - which is enough for me.

It's a lot more happening with these new built aircraft than is happening with the preserved genuine Me 262 that are in the museums - so it's not much to discuss on them.

: Lets be clear here. Building anything that flies is truly
: an achievement. But this site is a Warbird site. That
: would seem to mean a particular type of site.
: One that would not embrace such a seriousness regarding
: replicas and homebuilts. Homebuilts are not restored. The
: y are built. So are replica's.
: But no doubt it is a great achievment. However it is not
: a Me-262. Nor will it ever be. It is truly an amazing
: homebuilt. But lets save the honor for the real thing.
