: If I remember my history correctly, during WW1, all Domini
: on forces were placed under control of the British. I beli
: eve that this was also the case during the 2nd World War a
: nd also assume that the same was true during the interwar
: period.

Not sure about the interwar period but I do know that during WW2 although some Australian, and a couple of New Zealanders I believe, reached General ranks, or equivalents, they were still part of the british chain of command except in some parts of the pacific theatre.

: My questions are
: 1. When did British control over Dominion countries (Canad
: a, Austrialia etc) cease?

For control of the country I'd say 1901 for australia but even now has some small say in things but only minimal now.
Given how australian troops even now are under american control in afghanistan and possibly iraq next does that mean we are now under american control?

: 2. Were South African Forces classed as a Dominion?
: 3. Were the forces from Occupied Countries (Czech, Poland,
: Holland, France etc), treated as Dominion Countries or we
: re they allowed to operate under the control of their own
: Governments in Exile.

I am not sure but I think they were treated as the dominion countries were. I seem to recall the polish squadrons were flown as part of the standard RAF which I guess might be an example of how they all were used, probably wrong though.
