Actually the RCAF had either four or six (memory fails) B-17s, serialed in the 9200s, converted to transports and operated on transatlantic priority mail runs by 168 (HT) Sqn RCAF during the latter part of the war. I believe these were former USAAF examples.
Postwar Kenting used at least one B-17 on aerial survey work (it lasted into the late sixties--not sure if it survived).
