US Naval Policy (AGAIN!)

In Classic Wings there is an article on Helldiver recoveries.
Mike Rawson says that parts of SB2C-1 Bu Nos. 75552 were recovered from Lake Washington by two guys who had a 1 1/2 year lawsuit from the US Navy as a result... However they WON the case....
Now I don't propose to know the ins and outs of the case, but does this not set some legal precendent???
I suppose, the unique instance in this case is that the US Navy physically DUMPED the aircraft in Lake Washington means that they technically 'threw it away' might have had some baring on the result... But it may be worth looking at the actual ruling!!
