This is a really fascinating site, and seems to be written by the Luftwaffe ace Heinz Knoke. However there is detail of a Spit PR Mk.IV shot down over Norway.

The pilot, F/Lt Alastair D M Gunn, was captured, but sadly later executed after the Great Escape. The website details the combat which caused Gunn to be shot down, and includes some current pictures of well preserved wreckage, with the inferrance that there is quite a bit more... could this lead to the resurrection of an extinct subtype?
Thanks Tony for the lead on this site, it is really interesting indeed.
Cheers,
Richard
