Scott, the same as you and others, I am also involved in running a web-site devoted to aviation, in my case, Latin American aviation history.

Yes, there are costs associated with it. We are blessed in having the support of Dr. Gary Kuhn, who helps pay for the server access and domain. I help as much as I can, and so do others, through donations.

I have found that the cost of a hobby is a deduction that the IRS accepts, so I itemize my deductions. I had to cut on the number of aviation magazines I purchased, and now I favor those that have at least one or two items related to Latin American aviation, so I can use the material, and thus, get the deduction.

To support our sites, we have to be creative. I am about 24 hours away from receiving the first t-shirts that we will sell through my web site, to support our work. If these are well received, then we will find other avenues to funding.

But I still believe, with all due respect to Curtiss Fowles, whose work I so admire, that paying for information that is provided by others, is not the right way to go.
