Does anyone out there have any information on this aircraft while it was flying in Denmark. Trying to find any history of it and eventual demise after retirement. A group in Alberta, Canada have been researching its RAF history and need help in finding material on it while flying in the Danish AF.
Spitfire RK889 "Edmonton II"
This Spitfire was a Mk. IXe, serial number RK889, and had a Merlin 70 engine. There is a photo of it in Spitfire-The History p 370. Its chronology is:
October 6, 1944 No. 45 Maintenance Unit
May 10, 1945 313 Squadron {Czech}
date? Repaired on station Vickers-Arm [Henley]
October 26, 1948 RDAF as 420(S-TH) or 419(S-TSFF)
Does anyone have any clues on where to start looking. I havent seen a copy of Helmet Terbeck and Ray Sturtivant's book yet. Anyone have a copy of this yet? Many thanks and Merry Christmas everyone
many Thanks!
