The 38 was salvaged by a company just a few miles away from me in Independence, OR. They did indeed cut it up to get it out as it was intact. But intact is a relative term as the impact was very severe and the 38 was absolutely flattened. The 2 drop tanks were crushed paper thin if that gives you any idea. A fly'in buddy worked for the company and I was allowed access to take pictures. He also told me there no fuel on the airplane and showed me one engine and prop which were basically umdamaged. The prop had stopped with one blade pointing straight down and with the planes 0 forward motion had speared into the soft ground not so much as to even scratch the paint. The center section was a mess from a electricial fire which ignited fuel vapors. My buddy also told me that Priutt was going to buy it back from the insurance comp. and had enough parts left over to try and rebuild it.
Now my question. How'd the lawsuit turn out?
