I had not heard of this one before, but its really cool. The AR-199 threw me, and I was pretty sure I was looking at an AR-196. Until I saw the V-12 Argus! There were two prototypes built and while a great seaplane, the 3 seat trainer was not chosen for production. Both went into service, and one lies here, moored, perhaps waiting for a crew that did not return? I hope she is saved, and that the story comes to light. What a shock this trim little floatplane would give showing up at a seaplane gathering...
