Saw the reference to this site on the Flypast forum. It is an outstanding photographic documentary of what happened to some of the US jets in the Gulf War. One of the threads, concerning A-10 79-181, shows how a heavily damaged A-10 was able to make it back home and belly in.... with total hydraulic failure!! The aircraft has holes all over it, but the pilot didn't appear to get a scratch! Anyway, once they had finished recovering spares from the airframe, they BURIED it in the sand! Makes you rather believe a lot of those tales about buried WWII aircraft when you consider how paranoid the US has been in the last couple of decades about letting any of its front-line hardware get in uncontrolled hands. Anyway, there are lots of great pictures, and I thought people here would find it an interesting viewing.
Cheers,
Richard
