According to Steve Birdsall?s Pride of Seattle-The Story of the First 300 B-17Fs Squadron/Signal Publications, Inc., 1115 Crowley Drive, Carrolton, TX 75011-501010 (ISBN 0-89747-389-2; 64-pages, softbound)on page 14,
"The aircraft plunged into Bootless Bay and pieces of it still lie there."
A low altitude aerial photo of it appears on page 17 of the book showing the tail section, starting just behind the left waist window, broke off. The photo would appear to be from late in the war as a fair amount of deterioration has already taken place (rudder and elevators mostly gone, and some strafing practice holes apparent).
