A bit of addditional inconsequential trivia - I would guess that true ownership might have rested with the Ministry of Supply and, if so, it was possibly on the charge of (i.e. loan to) Standard Telephones and Cables (STC) acting as a contractor to MOS. In those days STC supplied airborne radios and their associated antennas to the RAF.
