BILL STILL HAS HIS F6F AT HIS PLACE IN CANBY. THE TAIL IS OUTSIDE AFTER THE PARTS WHERE STRIPED OFF IT. THE REMAINDER IS IN BILL'S HANGER. HE HAS ACQUIRED A FAIRLY LARGE AMOUNT OR PARTS FOR A REBUILD INC. ONE NEW WING, PROP, ENGINE ACCESSORY SECTION,2 CENTER SECTIONS DUG UP AT NAS PASCO, AND A R-2800. BILL HAS RESISTED ALL ATTEMPTS TO PURCHASE IT. HE'S NOW ABOUT 85 AND I THINK HE ENJOYS THE ATTENTION IT BRINGS HIM AS HE GETS CALLS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD AND MANY VISITORS. I HOPE ONE DAY IT IS RESTORED AND STAYS HERE IN OREGON WERE IT HAS BEEN FOR OVER 30 YEARS. IT IS A TRUE COMBAT VET HAVING SERVED WITH VF-37 ON THE USS SANGAMON AND PARTICIPATED IN THE PHILLIPINES CAMPAIGN. LT JIM RITCHEY SCORED 2 OF HIS 3 KILLS WHILE FLYING IT.
