I would hope so. I've known of their existence, but I've yet to see any actual photos of the mudflats Corsairs. What exactly is the state of their remains? I think at this point, any major F4U components that still exist in the field are worthy of recovery. There simply are no spare wing panels, rear fuselage sections, etc to be had anymore. My guess is that even if those components are only useful as patterns, they are probably worth the investment it would take to recover them (governmental red tape not withstanding).
Relative to the manufacture of new spars, my guess is that if you placed one in the presence of any type of substantial F4U remains, you'd increase the viability of restoring that pile of parts by quite a large factor. Since the RNFAA Corsairs are not subject to the immovable will of the US Navy, I'm surprised no one has attempted to retrieve them yet.
Is the region where the mudflats Corsairs are located saltwater or fresh?
