Hi all,
in his book Duel in de Wolken (Duel in the clouds) the writer Ron Putz mentions the crash of a P-47D in Mechelen in the Dutch province of Limburg. The aircraft was 42-26465 and belonged to the 506th FS/404 FG and was flown bij 1Lt. C. Winters who was killed in the crash.
The writer states that parts of the wreckage can still be found in an inaccesable part of the forest where it came down. Anyone any clue to what these remains may consist of?
Cees?
