Mike,
For a brief period circa 1974, the mk XIX Spitfire PM627, formerly on the Toronto waterfront at Ontario Place, was at CWH Mount Hope in a period accurate PR paint scheme. It was 'tail in' in the corner of one of the hangers and not photogenic. I have poor photographs and cannot read the code letters applied. It was always my understanding that this accurate scheme was overseen by John Griffin.
Shortly after this time, when there was infighting between the Fighter Pilots Association and CWH, the aircraft was paint stripped for a rebuild to flying that did not materialise, the aircraft finally being 'horse traded' with the Swedes.
I would be pretty sure that John would have details of he scheme and I would like to approach him. Could I ask you to please let me have his access details off board to my email address.
