On Monday the 11th Nov, the Daily Mail did a fasinating 'lump in the throat' article with the detils, including some interviews, of the last of the UK's Great War veterans. Now numbering a mere 43 veterans, virtually all over 100 years of age, 3 of which were ex-RFC. Two of these were apprentice fitters (one served at RAF Northolt - still in use by RAF today) and were too young to be sent overseas. Just the one was flying crew and is therefore the UK's last surviving RFC flyer. Charles Watson, now 102 years of age, an observer/gunner on Bristol Fighters with 11 Sqn, including being shot down and rescued by the French.
