I remember this as well. Photos of Skyraiders, UH-1's, T-37's, etc all still outdoors in their revetments. Crate after crate of overhauled engines, and all the miniguns and other armament still in place on the aircraft.
I believe the article pointed to the trade embargos of the time as the reason for the equipment not being available to Western collectors. This was back in the early-1990's I believe. Hasn't the situation changed since then in regard to our trade policies with that country? Unless I'm mistaken I remember a number of T-37's coming out of there and going to Australia. What of the Skyraiders and UH-1's? Hate to see actual combat aircraft rotting where they were left standing close to 30 years ago!
