Spitfire on Barnstormers

VICKERS SUPERMARINE SPITFIRE MK.IXE ? OFFERED!! Until recently fully certified and regularly flown, this represents probably the last chance to own a `proper' Spitfire at sensible cost. This aircraft is civil registered and was the subject of a full restoration in the early 1990's with Historic Flying in the UK . She unfortunately suffered a major accident and, as a result, a total airframe rebuild is about to commence (if required, the fuselage could be modified to highback 2 seat trainer variant at this stage). I am now looking, preferably, for a partner or partners to share the cost and the experience although I may contemplate selling outright as a last resort. We are planning to undertake much of the initial, basic metalwork outside of the UK to take advantage of vastly lower prevailing hourly rates for qualified engineers in South Africa although the project is being undertaken to full British CAA standards and regulations and will ultimately be certified in the UK. The costs for the restoration would be scheduled over a period of approx. 3 years and we fully anticipate the total cost to be in the region of 50-60% of the final value of the aircraft making this an excellent investment (pretty unusual in itself!) I would be pleased to hear from principals, in the first instance by email or fax only please, and I will respond with detailed data, costings etc. to all genuine, qualified enquiries. I'm guessing this is TE566 that tragically crashed in South Africa killing her owner/pilot Mike Snoyman

Can anyone out there in WIX-land confirm this?

John
