You can?t include the operating costs into this equation, can you?

Yes, time value of money, I guess that it was a concern in the seventies and eighties with something like 10 % per year but possibly not a problem.
In 1978 our flying club bought a nearly new glider and payed SEK 85,000. In 1997 it was sold for SEK 165,000.
During that time swedish CPI went from 198 to 624 which would bring our glider to SEK 268,000.
I?m willing to accept that for wear and tear during twenty years ......
