Brian Reynold's "Olympic Aviation Museum" in Olympia, Washington has just relocated their FG-1D Corsair BuNo.92436 to John Lane's "Airpower Unlimited" in Jerome, Idaho where it will be restored over the next two to three years.
This is the ex-Canadian Warplane Heritage aircraft finished in the colors of Robert Hampton Gray's No.1831 Squadron Corsair. "Hammy" Gray lost his life during August of 1945 while delivering a low level attack against a Japanese naval vessel.
The C.W.H. purchased this Corsair back in October 1973 from Ed Maloney's Planes of Fame Air Museum. It was one of four -1 model Corsairs owned by the P.O.F. Museum at that time. The plane was last restored by the C.W.H. during 1974.
