From Maidenhead Advertiser letters page..
Airfield noise 'no nuisance'
WITH regard to the 'excessive noise' (Advertiser, October 11, page 12) from White Waltham airfield, I would like to say that, having had two hip-replacements this year, I have been I confined to house and home for much of 2002.
During this time I found the noise of lawnmowers, and strimers to be much greater than that of a few light aircraft.
I say good luck to the historic White Waltham airfield which served us well during the Second World War. In fact if it were not for people like Lettice Curtis, who lives locally, and who was the first lady pilot to fly four-engined bombers on delivery flights from this airfield, many of us would not be here now.
People who do not like aircraft noise should never have chosen to live in this area in the first place.

Just to prove not all our senior citizens have had a sense of perspective bypass and have nothing better to do than moan!
And those last sentences say it all....
