Browning replicas

Posted by Elliott on Sat Oct 19, 2002 09:34:21 AM

A lot of people have been asking me about the Browning replicas I am casting - it's taking a long time to do due to the other six things i am doing at once, but they will be worth the wait! To date I have made about 40% of the estimated 8 moulds i'll need to cast the entire thing to a high enough standard. The cooling jacket is a swine as you'd expect - my original browning II has some crash damage including a less than perfect cooling jacket which compounds the problems associated with the casting. Check out the webshots pic of the working copy i have made of the cooling jacket and muzzle.

Go to browning's and you'll see it.

It is a very good quality casting and will be hand finished once i get to the heady heights of production. I am posting this now to reasure people that i will be completing the brownings - sooner rather than later i hope!

The thread has also been faithfully cast inside the muzzle for either a booster coil fitting (fighters) or the flash hider (turreted weapons) so you will be able to choose. Yes, i'll be casting flash hiders too.

All my moulds are finest quality silicone (v expensive) but give excellent results!

I plan to make two types of casting eventually - a 'light' model cast in one piece and a deluxe copy cast in about 8 pieces and hopefully indiscernable from the real thing.

And yes Ian, I will be sending you some when they are done.

If anyone is interested, please get in touch - all proceeds go towards the Whitley Project

Cheers
