: BuNo.133710 became mistaken as BuNo.133714 when the plane
: was registered as N33714 just prior to the filming of 'Bla
: ck Sheep Squadron' (N33710, N33711, N33712, N33713 were mo
: st likely taken up).
:
: The USMC Museum traded BuNo.133710 to Dean Ortner during t
: he early 1970's. The USMC had learned that Mr. Ortner had
: an FG-1D with a blown engine. Desiring a Corsair type tha
: t had actual USMC history, the USMC approached Mr. Ortner
: with a trade offer. They offered a straight across trade
: for their later model, airworthy F4U-7 and Mr. Ortner of c
: ourse jumped on the deal.
:
: The following year Mr. Ortner lost his life during an airs
: how exhibition and BuNo.133710 was sold to John Shafhausen
: . Mr. Shafhausen flew the plane for the Blacksheep TV ser
: ies, and maintained the plane until the early 1980's when
: it was sold to Blain Fowler in Camrose, Alberta, Canada.
: Mr. Fowler has maintained the plane in airworthy condition
: (although in relative obscurity) since he purchased the p
: lane. It's painted overall Glossy Sea Blue with the name
: "Alberta Blue" carried on the forward fuselage and remains
: with him to this day.

Wow that brought back some memories...I saw Dean go in...he had just given me a sucker not 20 minutes before he flew. I was very young...he was dressed as a clown.
