Well, we all voted to change the name to satisfy the politically correct corporations like FINA. This was supposed to let loose the floodgates of money to bring more airplanes and get things done. Didn't happen, did it? This year one of my good friends who used to bring his big engine (read thirsty) warbird all the way from the Midwest was told tht they were cutting his fuel allottment by 2/3s for the trip. So he stayed home. I know others did also, including myself. Not that I would have gotten much fuel anyways (I heard they cut the trainer allotment in half also, but cannot verify that). I don't think the CAF has every paid much of an appearance fee and then the slashing of the fuel budget doesn't help.

I found the listing of warbirds that had been invited ont he CAF website to be amusing. Many of those airplanes are not even owned by the person listed anymore. I think it is a little misleading to post that list when there is no chance that most of those airplanes are coming. A more appropriate list to post would be those who accept the offer to come, not just those who are invited. My 2 cents. I could go on and on about how the CAF needs to change some things, but I will hold my tongue :)
