hi,
i read in the local newspaper that they just started excavating a Lancaster Mk.3 (115th squadron RAF) that was shot down at Papendrecht, small village near Rotterdam on July 21st '44 ...
it's a bit tricky ; at first it was believed that the plane was shot down at 4AM so it would have been empty and on the way back from a run on Homburg (it took off at 23:20 as the last plane from Withford), but new info suggests it went down at 1:45AM, so it's probably still carrying it's full load of bombs and ammo.
anybody here in the know about this ??
