Gerhard Barkhorn

I hadn't realised, until reading the article in the latest Aeroplane on the development of the Harrier through the P1127/Kestrel lineage, that the Luftwaffe ace Gerhard Barkhorn had been deputy Commander of the Tri-partite Evaluation Squadron which flew the Kestrels.

That must have been quite a career, from 109s through 190s to presumably Sabres and ultimately the Kestrel - did he ever write an autobiography which covered the whole of his flying career?
Slightly off text but Warbirds are just lumps of metal without some understanding of the people who flew and fought in them.
