Your guess is as good as anyone's. Dr. Bill Anderson (former owner of P-40 s/n AK940 now owned by Tony Banta) had the plane under heavy restoration as of the early 90's... heck, I helped re-rivet the some of the fuselage. The fuselage and most of the engine and accessories were stored in Geneseo, NY with the 1941 Historic Aircraft Group and the wings were (supposedly again) under restoration in Halifax, NS with Ralph Hull doing the work. About 5 years ago the hangar and all contents were gone within a week and no-one has heard about it since. Rumors were that Hull was looking for payment on the wings which was not forthcoming and may have been looking for the fuselage as payment(?) Dr. Bill will not talk about it at all.
However, I do indeed know he has an ME-108 waiting for restoration now... I certainly hope that wasn't the trade.
I lost track of the HA.1112 Buchon that Anderson had in the early 90's under restoration too. Word was that it had been traded to Harold Kindsvater for the ME-208 (Nord 1102) Anderson currently flies. Any confirmations?
