Hi Jim & all,

Couldn't agree more with you about Wright-Pat...I always feel like the "kid in the candy shop" there.

I've dragged my family along to both Dayton and Pensacola over the years. I still recall my dear (non-aviation oriented) wife's comment when first inside at Pensacola: "Why don't they have ropes around the airplanes like they do at Dayton?" It's true, of course. All who visit are welcome to leave as many fingerprints on their favorite Corsair, Helldiver, Shiden-Kai, or ersatz P-40B as they like at Pensacola.

Ok, experts! I realize we have all heard over the years that leaving fingerprints on an aircraft is BAD...something about oil, salt, and dirt eating through the paint job or some such thing. I bend and rivet metal and spray a little chromate here and there...definitely not a "final coat" expert. Are fingerprints ACTUALLY hazardous to today's superior paints and clear coat finishes, or do they just pose more of a nuisance for the owner/curator to wipe off at the end of the day.

Your turn,
Dan
