Hi all,
It is expected that today the recovery of HE727 will end. The site has been declared to be clean of wreckage, human remains, bombs, ammunition etc.
Good news is that the identity of the human remains of the two missing crewmembers has been confirmed beyond any doubt. That this was done so quickly was as a result of the relatively good condition of the human remains as well as the medical information provided by the Canadians.
So, another two missing to be taken of the list. That's the good news.
Problem is that this has been the most expensive recovery ever in Holland costing about 900.000,00 euro, well over budget. With new rules about local authorities having to pay twice the amount per head of their population as well as the Duthch gouverments decision to decrease their participation in the total costs of a recovery, it is expected that these large scale recoveries will be rare.
