Pleased to see that your taste buds are in the right place (no reference to ducks, pregnant or not, will be made), but the original post has seen a large response from those that prefer those small annoying aircraft, fighters I think that they are called.
Seriously, while my reply included a few fighters, why are Spitfires, P-40s, P-51s, Bf109s etc more popular than Bombers.
For me, the sight of PA474 and Sally B in the air, plus W1048, the Hali-stings(?) at Elvington and even the Victor - albeit a (dirty word) jet - at Bruntingthorpe, are far more impressive, both in the flesh and from an engineering point of view. If I lived across the pond, I would be in aviation heaven, what with all those B17s B24 B26, not forgetting the Shack (is it still flying).
Not that I don't appreciate seeing fighters in the air, I suppose they are the life blood of our combined interest, as it tends to be these aircraft that first attract the attention of those new to warbirds.
Maybe I've just answered my own question!!!!!
