This statement represents my personal opinion and not a official WRG position.

I think that nose art that has a legitimate historical background should not be a problem. Thats the way it was and if you have to explain it to your kids then do so, explaining the historical aspects of the image.
Fabricated nose art that has no historical background is little more than gratuitous sexual imagery.

In a free country both should be allowed. I think that an individual displaying nudity for nudity's sake should be willing to cover the image in a venue where small children are expected. All you would need to do is fabricate a bikini panel (magnetic or static cling or similar removable type) to cover the naughty bits while it is parked. This could be done for the historical aircraft as well depending on the situation.

I think the fundemental difference is history. One has it and provides an explanation for the image and the other doesn't.

History should be preserved as it was, not revised to current sensibilities. I apalled that in some countries the Swastika is illegal and some german aircraft displayed there don't have it. We can't continue to deny history or as the saying goes we are doomed to repeat it.

Very few aspects of history are nice to our modern perspective. But these men should be honored for what they did, and if they did it with a naked woman on the side of there aircraft because it made them feel better the who are we to judge?
