When I proof corrected 'Spitfire International' Norway section there was no reference to BP929 going to the USAAF! How and where this crept in is a current topic of conversation between Ray Sturtivant and myself. I suspect long hours and late nights as there is no reference to BP929 in the United States of America section!
When the firewall data plate was removed by the current owner, at my request, there was evidence of pencil marks on the firewall that had been concealed by the plate. '92' was clear the last digit was open to interpretaion. Best judgement was a larger '9', however with several BP92* as possibilities I believe we should keep an open mind and look for further confirmation of the serial during the restoration. Of course if Russian records should become more accessible in the future.........

: BP92? (poss BP923) but quoted BP929 (which went to USAAF)
