I was hoping this forum could help shed some light on two other P-47 airframes. The first one is?
Model: Republic P-47D-40-RA Thunderbolt
S/N: 13064 (Yugoslav AF)
C/N: 399-55834
History: P-47D-40-RA, 45-49295 (USAF), 13064 (Yugoslav AF)
Is this the P-47 that is on display at RAF Museum ? Cosford as RAF s/n KL216? If not is ?KL216? the true identity? If so, what might it?s USAAF s/n be (if there is one)? Does anyone know the history of the airframe marked as KL216?
The second airframe I have questions about is?
Model: Republic P-47D-23-RA??? Thunderbolt
S/N: 42-27601 (USAAF) ???
C/N: ???
Owner: Beijing Aeronautical Institute
Apparently this airframe has a marking "7601", but in the photo I obtained has no such marking in view, but that doesn?t mean it isn?t there. If ?7601? represents the identity of the airframe, it might be 42-27601, a P-47D-23-RA. Does anyone have any details of the P-47 with the Beijing Aeronautical Institute? Does anyone know of any history of the airframe?
Again if anyone can share any details I would appreciate it very much. I think I have hit a dead end myself.
Regards,
Mike Henniger
