Reference the recent posting enquiring after the health and current status of Spitfire SL721 following the accident at Ottawa.
The Ottawa Sun newspaper have just sent to me a photograph taken on the evening of the incident. The Spitfire is being pushed back into a hanger by ground crew. It is on its undercarriage and it looks straight. The engine cowlings have been removed and that suggests that access to the spars for lifting strops was required. The outer couple of feet of all the propellor blades are distorted foward a touch and look 'ratty'.
In Spitfire terms, by my judgement of the photo, accidents do not come much lighter than this.
