Yes, Christer is right, this report deals with molten salt solutions so it is not relavent.

Something that is strongly alkaline is just as corrosive as an acid which is at the other end of the pH scale.

The amount of corrosion will be determined by temperature, pH level, the amount of oxygen in the water, and other factors- some of which can vary widely even in the same body of water.

A salt lake would be unlikely to yield a corrosion free airframe, but then again a highly polluted "freshwater" lake may not be much better.

My recommendation is to speak to divers who have looked at other wrecks in that same body of water. Iron and steel also fare poorly in the same environment, so a local shipwreck may yield the data you need.

Many US Navy aircraft had anodized skins, so these tend to fare better than other types in adverse environments.
