Apart from making the files available to the public and providing a fairly expensive custom-order photocopy service, the PRO does not provide any other help to a researcher. Therefore all access must be by personal visit.
Nevertheless, the PRO website www.pro.gov.uk is always worth a visit. There are individuals who are familiar with the PRO who will do research for you at a price.

You are familiar, aren't you, with the book "War Prizes", which covers, airframe-by-airframe (as far as possible), all of the allies dealings with the individual enemy aircraft that fell into their hands? I know that the author included reading of PRO files in his research for the book. I do know the author and might be able to contact him if you have any specific points.
