For those of you that don't know....
Marcel Jurca, made those high performance warbird replicas, in 3/4 or in one case at least a 1:1 scale Spitfire. His warbirds were all constructed in wood, but in some cases, had a performance to rival their "real" counterparts.
Jurca was born in 1940, and served in the Romanian Air Force, as a Fighter Pilot, before going to France Post war.
He supplied his first kit plans, in the 1960's so I think that makes him the first warbird replicist in the world.
He is typical of the men that myself and Mick admire, former Pilots or aviators, who show, through their actions, that nothing is beyond the wit of man.
His death is a loss to Homebuilt aviation
