Occurrence Summary :

A01O0252: The Vickers/Supermarine Spitfire Mark XVI aircraft departed Ottawa/Rockcliffe airport and was destined to Ottawa/MCIA, Ontario. During the approach for landing, the pilot selected the landing gear down. The landing gear extended; however it did not lock into position for landing. During touchdown on runway 25, the main landing gear collapsed and the aircraft skidded to stop on the runway. The aircraft was lifted using a crane. The landing gear was extended and locked and the aircraft was towed off the runway. All four propeller blades were damaged and the aircraft belly skin was damaged. The pilot was not injured.
