BTW, you can turn off the option in Outlook Express that automatically views the messages. I did. **AND** automatically viewing messages is clever way that computer viruses can infect your system. You can also try setting up other email accounts, such as Yahoo or Hotmail. AOL account holders seem to be particularly victimized by spam. Clicking on the link to be removed only validates that you have a valid email account, in which case your email is going to be added to a long list of valid emails and sold to other spammers.
You can also subscribe to a service called SpamCop (www.spamcop.net) and you only pay according to how much content you regualarly get. SpamCop tries to trace the authentic origins of the spam and will even write a letter to the offender's ISP on your behalf.
My spam has dropped to maybe one or two a month, but only because I've stopped using email.
