Wrt the serial number of the Hurri, No hurricane served with the IAF after 1947, the serial numbers were introduced somewhere early 1948. so many aircraft dakotas and tempests which were used in 47 and 48 carried RAF serials of the PR and VP series.
Since the Hurri never served after Indian Independence, there is no way they would have allocated a serial for the Hurri - besides virtually all the serials post independence that were evolved for the IAF were in the H, I or B series.
