Seen it Paul, surprised you never noticed how straight the M40 is at that point? I did find a reference for it at one point, which i lost, something to do with Night Fighters I think.
Not sure if the airfield ever came into use, lots of River Cherwell nearby.
Also, as you approach the last Oxford turnoff, as you look to your right, you can see the remains of an RAF rifle range.... :)
