: Hi all,
:
: I visited the Toronto Aerospace Museum a couple of weeks a
: go to see FM104 and it is on display but in a sections. It
: was broken down in order to transport back and store at t
: he former CFB Downsview, the location of TAM. They say the
: restoration will take 12 years and from the looks of it t
: hat might be true. It has a fair amount of corrision in th
: e floors and the interior is pretty much gutted. I like it
: was taken down just in the nick of time. The engines are
: mostly complete, and they had broken down one engine down
: to the crank and all did seem pretty clean. They are looki
: ng for volunters and funds to help save the Lanc. So far n
: ot much restoration has been started, it appears to be pre
: tty much in the "being disassembled phase" of it's restora
: tion.
:
: Just a side note..Winsdor ONT Lancaster FM212 seems to be
: fairing alot better on it's pole.

I didn't know that there was another Lancaster in Windsor. I've never made it down there. Soemthing tells me that there should be a movement afoot to get that one under cover too. Those aircraft are now just to rare and too valuable to be sitting outside on pylons like that. Leave them out there and soon they'll be gone, just like the veterans they are intended to help commenorate.
